Ava DuVernay and Autumn Riley

Ava DuVernay, born August 24, 1972, in Long Beach California. DuVernay was encouraged to pursue her love of art by her aunt Denise when she was a kid. Aunt Denise worked as an overnight nurse so that she could have an opportunity to study and literature, or even theater. The aunt introduced DuVernay the 1961 movie West Side Story and DuVernay became enthralled by the film. DuVernay was instructed by her mom that the arts can serve as a tool for activism. DuVernay's mother also had the social sensitivity and taught DuVernay how to communicate by means of art. Even though DuVernay grew up within Compton with her family she lived in Lowndes County Alabama where her parents lived for many generations. Her father was awed by the historic Civil Rights march over the Edmund Pettus Bridge, in neighboring Selma Alabama. The time she spent in Selma Alabama inspired her later to direct a movie about The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his Civil Rights Movement. In the year 1990, DuVernay was a graduate of Saint Joseph High School in Lakewood California. She attended University of California Los Angeles to obtain degrees in English and African American Studies. DuVernay was a student at the college when she started to get interested in production for broadcast journalism. She was an CBS News intern during the O.J. Simpson's trial. DuVernay was assigned to the watch and search the home of a particular juror. Following her disappointment with journalism by the tasks she was handed and deciding to go after an interest in public relations. DuVernay began her career as a junior public relations assistant for a film studio that was small shortly after she graduated from the college. From this position she started her own public relations company known as The DuVernay Agency in 1999. Alongside PR, the agency has launched lifestyle networks and promotions, like the Urban Beauty Collective. Autumn Riley.............................Autumn Riley was born in Los Angeles United States. Autumn Riley is born with the birth astrological sign. She is famous for her performances in American Experience, (1987) A More Perfect Union and A More Perfect Union (2009). Autumn has appeared as Rose as well as Anna Payne, in A More Perfect Union (2009) and Anna Payne, in American Experience (1987).
