Rochon was the only child born to Zelma Staples. She is a businessman and is also the daughter Zelma's nurse practitioner. Rochon is a 1982 graduate of Cerritos High School in Cerritos, California. Rochon earned a bachelor's diploma in broadcast journalism from California State University Dominguez Heights (CSUDH) in the year 1986. Her minors included theatre, sociology and theater. Rochon made a return to CSUDH to speak at the commencement ceremony in 2016 as a keynote speakers.

Ullerup appeared as Julia Brynn for the first appearance in Battlestar Galactica: The Remake which aired in 2006 Sci Fi Channel. Ullerup was Ashley Magnus in the first and second seasons of the TV show Sanctuary until the role was cut from the script. The reason for her departure sparked heated discussions among viewers. A lot of people wanted her back in future episodes, but the show ended in 2012. Ullerup appeared as Bree O'Brien, in Chesapeake Shores. Ullerup was the character Maggie Thomas in Asteroid: Final Impact, the movie about the 2015 disaster. Ullerup also played Dale Travers, a recurring actor within Hallmark's Signed, Sealed, Delivered films from the year 2016 until today.

Ava DuVernay, born August 24, 1972, in Long Beach California. DuVernay was encouraged to pursue her love of art by her aunt Denise when she was a kid. Aunt Denise worked as an overnight nurse so that she could have an opportunity to study and literature, or even theater.
