Anita Ekberg

Marianne (Swedish pronunciation (listen) 29/09/1931 - 11/01/2015) was a Swedish
actress, well-known for her beauty and striking figure. Her role as Sylvia, in
Federico Fellini's movie La Dolce Vita (1960) became well-known. Ekberg was a
major part of Italy and became a permanent resident in 1964.Anita Ekberg was
born on 29 September 1931, in (Sweden) and was the eighth child in a family of
eight. When she was in her teens, Anita worked as a fashion model. As per the
requests from her mother Ekberg was a contestant in Miss Malmo in 1950. She won
the Miss Sweden contest. Even though she spoke very little English Ekberg
travelled to America to compete in the Miss Universe 1951 title. It was an not
an official pageant at the time. The pageant officially became officially
recognized in 1952. Ekberg did not win the title of Miss Universe winner, but
she was one of six finalists. However, she did earn a contract with Universal
Studios as a starlet. Ekberg was a Universal Starlet, where she learned the art
of elocution, drama and dance. She appeared briefly in The Mississippi Gambler
(1953), Abbott and Costello go to Mars (1953), Take Me to Town (1953), and The
Golden Blade (53).
