Katey Sagal
Katey Sagal, a gifted and versatile
performer who could do both drama and comedy, was an actor/singer who became a
household face in the late 1980s, when she appeared in the role of Peg Bundy.
She was the eloquently outspoken, unorthodoxated Peg Bundy in Fox's Married...
with Children (1987). The show was awarded two American Comedy Awards and three
Golden Globes throughout the series' long run. Peg Bundy may have been
recognizable, but Katey was determined to keep her acting career after the
show's end. Katey starred in other sitcoms as well as television films. In the
TV show Sons of Anarchy (2008), she played the role as Gemma Teller Morrow.
This was the Matriarch of a Hell's Angels-like California biker gang. She was
awarded a Golden Globe Award 2011 for her performance. Catherine Louise Sagal
is the daughter of Sara Zwilling (director and singer) and Boris Sagal (film
and television director). Los Angeles native Catherine Louise Sagal started
performing at the tender age of five. She then went to school for acting and
voice at the California Institute of the Arts. She was a singing waitress in
her "salad" years. After her time in "The Group With No
name," she got a break when she joined forces with Gene Simmons and KISS,
the 1970s' rock group. She also worked as a backup singer for recordings for
Simmons and other famous celebrities, including Bob Dylan (Olivia Newton-John),
Etta James, and Tanya Tucker. As one of Bette Midler's "Harlettes",
she was also dynamic when she performed live alongside her in Bette's
avant-garde stage shows which were staged from the late 1970s to early 1980s.
