Sofia Margarita Vergara

Sofia Margarita Vergara (Spanish: 10 July 1972) is a Colombian-American actress as well as a television producer, presenter and model. Vergara was the highest-paid female actress on American television between 2013 to 2020. Vergara rose in prominence when she hosted two shows on Univision's Spanish-language TV network in the late 1990s. Her first significant role as an actor in English was in the film Chasing Papi (2003). Following that, she appeared in Four Brothers (2005), Tyler Perry's comedies Meet the Browns (2008) and Madea Goes to Jail (2009 that earned her an ALMA Award nomination). The first time she appeared was as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in the ABC comedy series Modern Family, for which she received nominations for four Golden Globe Awards, four Primetime Emmy Awards and eleven Screen Actor Guild Awards. Additionally, she had voice-over roles in animated films Happy Feet Two (2011), Escape from Planet Earth (2013) as well as The Emoji Movie (2017). Vergara was also a top-paid Hollywood actress in 2020 [citation required]. Vergara is an American judge on America's Got Talent since 2020. Vergara was born into a Roman Catholic family from Barranquilla. Vergara's mother Margarita Vergara Devergara was a homemaker, while her father Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo worked as a cattle rancher within the meat industry. In the eyes of her five siblings and many cousins, she was called "Toti". Vergara completed three years of dental school at the National University of Colombia. However, she decided to drop two semesters before graduation in order to explore opportunities in show business and modeling.
