Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). Her family and her left for Europe when she was just three. Summer went to British as well as American schools during the time her family was living abroad. returning to her home town of Pasadena just a few days shy of her 14th birthday. Summer was just five years old when she discovered her passion for acting. She enrolled in her first acting class. Nine months later, she signed with an agent/manager, and started her full-time profession. She is currently working towards her degree at college in her spare time. Was among the young celebrities that were featured in Vanity Fair's cover article, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was listed as one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil began her acting classes at the age of 14 years old. Within a year she signed a contract with an agency and manager. Bishil was initially seen on the Nickelodeon television show Just for Kicks. She was later seen in a variety of other children's programs. In 2007, she played the lead actress in Alan Ball's film Towelhead which was a re-imagining of his novel. Dana Stevens, a critic for Slate she said that Bishil's performance was "the most honest thing" in an film that had the best intentions, but, felt thoroughly fake and mildly embarrassing. It was similar to an extended PSA regarding inappropriate touching. Bob Strauss, who writes for a variety of Los Angeles newspapers, states that Bishil, "...is one of the most natural actresses in film to appear in years." Gary Goldstein, in a September 12, Los Angeles Times, review of Towelhead declared that Summer Bishil ("...newcomer) provides a compelling and captivating performance as Jasira. In 2009, she was a part of Wayne Kramer's Crossing Over movie starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta, and Ashley Judd. Jay Reiner, Associated Press, appreciated her portrayal. She was picked to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender, and was planned to be the main focus of the planned but never-produced sequel.
